Brief Biography

My name is Denise Rangel. I graduated from UNCG in 2008 with a B.S. in Mathematics and in 2010 with a Masters degree in Mathematics as well. During my time as a graduate student at UNCG I worked under the advisement of Dr. Paul Duvall, completing my thesis entitled Elliptic curves and Factoring. Also during that time I found how much I enjoyed the research process and that I was not done learning mathematics. Currently I am a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Texas at Arlington in the PhD program. I am working on the topic of representation theory for totally reflexive modules for my dissertation. I will graduate in May 2015 which plans to continue my life in academia. I am truly grateful for the time I spent at UNCG. They lead me on a journey that took something that I just happen to be good at and also really enjoyed, turned it into a passion and in the end a career.
