Brief Biography

After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Computer Science degree in 1998, Mr. Cheek became the Systems Administrator for the Department of Mathematical Sciences in 1999. After the department split in 2006 into the Computer Science Department and the Mathematics & Statistics Department he continues to support both. Mr. Cheek provides computing technical support for the faculty and staff of the department. Using the vast array of equipment in the department he provides one-on-one training for faculty, staff, and students. He advises faculty on equipment needs for research projects. Troubleshooting hardware and software failures are routine aspects for the systems administrator. He handles hardware system repair as problems arise. Mr. Cheek fills the liaison role between the department and the central campus ITS unit. All aspects of computer equipment planning and budgeting are handled by the systems administrator.
