The frightening statistics about mental illness, drug abuse, and suicide rates around the globe are horrifyingly loud and clear. According to the CDC, more than 50% of people will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point in their lifetime, half of all mental illness occurs before a person turns 14 years old, and three-quarters of mental illness begin before age 24. The whole of humanity seems under the invisible attack of the most dangerous situation of all time: the malfunctioning of our own mind. This talk focuses on the various aspects of our thought process, lifestyles, and interactions by which we can take charge of our well being and remain happy, peaceful and healthy. Being the lighthouse of society, the role of academia can not be over emphasized in the journey from mental illness to mental wellness.
