Minors
The National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Security Agency (NSA) recognize the need for a high quality STEM workforce. STEM majors enjoy an advantage in today’s economy and are projected to remain in-demand well into the future. With a mathematics or statistics minor you strengthen your science degree without increasing time to graduation.
Requirements for Mathematics Minor
A minimum of 15 semester hours of coursework with a grade of C or better consististing of
- (8 hours) MAT 196: Calculus A and MAT 296: Calculus B; or
(6 hours) MAT 191: Calculus I and MAT 292: Calculus II; - (3 hours) MAT 310: Elementary Linear Algebra or MAT 353: Introduction to Discrete Mathematics;
- (6 hours) Two additional MAT or STA courses at the 200 level or above.
Requirements for Statistics Minor
A minimum of 15 semester hours of coursework with a grade of C or better consististing of
- (3 hours) STA 271: Fundamental Concepts of Statistics; or
(3 hours) STA 290: Introduction to Probability and Statistical Inferences - (3 hours) STA 301: Statistical Methods;
- (9 hours) Three additional STA courses at the 300 level or above.
