The American Statistical Association (ASA) will support a Summer 2018 REU

Congratulations to Sat Gupta, Xiaoli Gao, and Somya Mohanty (Computer Science)! The American Statistical Association (ASA) will support a Summer 2018 REU at UNCG (via funds provided to the ASA by NSF). Sat serves as the PI for this grant. The Co-PIs are Xiaoli and Somya. The grant will fund 4 students recruited nationally. Two local students will be added to the program via help from the Dept of Math. & Stat. and the Dept. of Computer Science. The main purpose of the grant is to compare quality of predictive modeling through statistical and machine learning methods both for real data and noise-added data. Total direct funding size is app $38600.
