Katelyn Young Joins the Department

We welcome Ms. Katelyn Young to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Katelyn earned a B.S. in Marketing and Business Management from Appalachian State University. We are very excited to have her join our Department!

Carri Richter accepts University Program Associate position

February 18, 2019: Carri (Richter) has accepted the University Program Associate position in our Department (Haley’s old position) starting February 18, 2019. For the past two years, Carri provided outstanding service to the Department as the Administrative Support Associate. She was the recipient of the CAS Staff Excellence Award.

Austin Lawson

Austin Lawson defends his Ph.D. dissertation

Austin Lawson successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation titled, “On the preservation of coarse properties over products and on persistence curves”. Austin was advised by Greg Bell. Congratulations to both Austin and Greg.

The Department hosted the 14th Annual UNCG Regional Mathematics and Statistics Conference (RMSC)

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics hosted the 14th Annual UNCG Regional Mathematics and Statistics Conference (RMSC) on November 3, 2018. The conference was attended 175 participants including: 134 students: 4 middle and high school students, 99 undergraduate students, and 31 graduate students; and 40 faculty and industry representatives.
