Title: Mathematical and Computational Problem Solving Competencies for the Grand Challenges

Abstract: In this talk, participants will engage in innovative educational frameworks and inclusive research practices that can help build competencies for solving real-world global challenges using mathematics and computational sciences. We will share examples of contexts that motivate research problems that can help engage ALL students develop habits of mind to address global challenges. These competencies will also help to improve their understanding and appreciation of the applications of mathematics to the real-world and also to make data-driven decisions. Participants will also learn about potential funding opportunities at various levels.
