unc gREENSBORO aisc cONFERENCES
The main objective of the International Conference on Advances in Interdisciplinary Statistics and Combinatorics (AISC) Conference was to promote interdisciplinary research involving statistical techniques. These techniques are becoming increasingly important in all fields of scientific discovery. A unique feature of the conference was that we brought together nationally and internationally recognized researchers from many fields including anthropology, biology, economics, education, environmental science, information systems, insurance, mathematics, medicine, psychology, and public health. The common thread was statistical methods used in their respective research programs.
The AISC conferences provided mentoring for young researchers with an opportunity to interact with established researchers in their respective fields. At the local level, the conference will provide an opportunity to NC researchers to interact with other researchers from all over the world. With this in mind, there were several sessions focusing on undergraduate research.
The conferences covered a variety of contemporary topics such as Causal Inference, Design of Experiments, Survey Sampling, High Dimensional Data Analysis, Big Data, Data Science/Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Bayesian Statistics, Time Series Forecasting, Topological Data Analysis, Functional Data Analysis, Distribution Theory, Survival Analysis, Statistical Ecology, and Statistical Consulting.
